embly to the Ministry Committee of the Advisory Council for the Church’s Ministry state that it should:

‘(i) keep under review different forms of ministry by men and women, ordained and lay, to enable the Council to give appropriate advice to the Bishops and to the Church Assembly,

(ii) promote discussion within the Church, so far as this may be practical, about the adaptation of its ministry to meet the changing pastoral situation.

(iii) with these two aims in mind, keep in close touch with other central Church bodies concerned with different forms of ministry; in particular, (a) the Council for Women’s Ministry in the Church.’

This report is the result of close collaboration between the two bodies through a Working Party representative of both of them.

The main function of the report is to contribute to the ongoing discussion in the Church about the place of women in its ministry. As such, the Council for Women’s Ministry and the Ministry Committee of ACCM commend it to the Church for study, hoping that it will be useful both to the Church at large and to those who have direct concern for the ministries in which women serve.
